One of her first thrills upon becoming an official resident of Blood Pledge castle was getting a say in decorating her room. Her two new fathers were on some kind of important mission, leaving her new grandmother, whom she had been cautioned to never refer to as a grandmother, as her decorating advisor.

Cheri had passed along some advice upon hearing the girl’s plan for a pink on pink on pink room. “If everything is pink, then nothing is pink.” It hadn’t made much sense at the time. Obviously, if everything was pink then everything was pink, right?

It wasn’t until the room was done that she understood what Cheri had been trying to tell her. With pink carpeting, walls, ceiling, curtains, bedspread, and furniture, it was the few items that weren’t pink that really stood out in the room.

It was disappointing to get everything you wanted only to find out it wasn’t really what you wanted after all. Luckily, the very next day Cheri, claimed to have found brand new fabrics that would be just perfect in the room. A few changes later the room really was perfect.

Such a small but practical lesson—less is more. Yet, it is a lesson harder to see in life than one might think. And once learned Greta promptly pushed it aside in her mind. After all, she had so many new things and people to discover.

She’d spent the beginning of her life fighting for her place in a family that didn’t want her. That’s how she came to her new family—an assassination attempt that failed in all the right ways.

Suddenly, she had two fathers and an extended family that filled an entire castle. Everyone was always ready and willing to help her and spend time with her when they weren’t too busy with their work.

Her fathers especially had a lot of commitments. Yuuri lived in two different worlds and split the time between them. A day in his world could be weeks in hers. And whenever he returned it seemed like there was a new crisis or adventure he needed to go out to deal with. Wolfram usually went with him. And so would Conrad and sometimes Gwendal and Gunter and Murata.

Of course Anissina was usually around though it wasn’t safe to spend too much time in her lab, and that was generally where she was. Cheri was always very attentive unless she was on one of her free love journeys. She seemed to really enjoy them. Of course the maids were always ready with cookies and cooing over how pretty her dresses were, which always made Greta laugh since they were the ones to make them. It was really too bad how busy they were with all the cooking and cleaning of an entire castle.

Yes, Greta was surrounded by people that loved her. And if everyone loves you and wants to take care of you…

I get the feeling that she gets lost in the shuffle sometimes. Or at least that it would be easy for that to happen. Thanks for reading.

I know what you mean, I often wonder what happens to her when everyone is off adventuring. And even when they are there, who does she play with? Greta has no company her own age. She gets sidelined a lot as a character, I think the producers run with an "out of sight, out of mind" policy.
